DAY 1: CORDA TO COCULI
Duration: 2h30 – 1000m, 5 km

Upon arrival on the island of Santo Antao via ferry from Sao Vicente, you will be based in Ponta do Sol for six nights, the northernmost town on Santo Antao. This mountainous island boasts high peaks, rugged cliffs, and deep ravines, offering a diverse landscape ranging from lush vegetation to barren areas. The dramatic scenery provides some of the best views of the holiday! Your walks will traverse cobbled paths with vistas of ribeiras, extinct craters, verdant valleys, and coastal paths, offering insight into rural island life as you pass small hamlets and cultivated terraces. Before reaching your hotel, a stop at Corda, south of Ponta de Sol, will treat you to spectacular scenery as you descend on cobbled donkey paths, followed by stony gravel paths and tracks, ending in Coculi with breathtaking views into the ribeiras.

DAY 2: BOCA DE AMBAS RIBEIRAS TO CHA DE IGREJA
Duration: 4 hours, +750m -850m, 8 km

Embark on a morning drive to the start of your walk at Boca de Ambas as Ribeiras. Today’s linear walk promises spectacular views of Ribeira da Garça, characterized by steep ascent in the morning and descent after lunch. Conclude your walk at the charming village of Chã da Igreja, where you can enjoy refreshments.

DAY 3: COVA CRATER TO PAUL VALLEY
Duration: 5 hours, +100m -1250m, 12 km

This day´s highlight is the Cova and Ribeira de Paul trail, offering striking contrasts. Starting high on a ridge, the trail passes an extinct crater with fields in the caldera before descending dramatically into the lush Ribeira de Paul. Enjoy the quiet road passing through interesting hamlets where locals sell home-grown produce.

DAY 4: PONTA SOL TO CRUZINHA
Duration: 6 hours, +500m -500m, 15 km

Begin your walk directly from your hotel in Ponta do Sol, traversing a spectacular coastal trail along sheer rock cliffs, cultivated terraces, and villages. This ancient trail along the northern and western coast of Santo Antao features cobbled paths connecting inhabited and abandoned hamlets, often listed among the world’s best walks. Conclude your walk in Cruzinha, amidst stunning views of cliffs and ravines ending in the sea.

DAY 5: CIRCULAR WALK ON THE RIDGE
Duration: 5 hours, +640m -620m, 10 km

Enjoy a 45-minute drive to the start of your scenic walk at Agua das Caldeiras. This circular mountain walk offers spectacular views and ridge walking through the island’s main pine forests. Experience the lush environment, where locals cultivate corn and beans, and engage in conversations with farmers.

DAY 6: CHA DE MATO TO RIBEIRA DA TORRE
Duration: 3 hours, -1200m, 7 km

Conclude your walks on Santo Antao with a spectacular descent into the lesser-known Ribeira da Torre valley before returning to Sao Vicente in the afternoon. Experience the diverse landscapes, from cultivated terraces to sugar cane fields, and enjoy a refreshing sugar cane juice before departing for Sao Vicente.
